Re: boat trips whats in your box
We're waiting for your words of wisdom oh wise one
My remnants of boat tackle include rusty steel paternosters, a few wire traces with blunt hooks, feathers of various colours and a few round grip weights.
'spose I'd better start saving up for some new gear.

Never been (not in this country at least and that was a charter with everything provided ) and so have never taken any tackle with me, but i am hoping to go soon ( dunno when ) and i have not got a clue what to take with me, all i have in my tackle box is shore gear, ie spiky leads, size 2 hooks, fixed spool reel, i have a boat rod which i will be taking tonite to Anchorshome as it is still a good caster and sticks out a second line. but other than that i have not got a clue what to take on a boat

Re: boat trips whats in your box
Seriously Chris, I would put all the members to sleep if I tried to list the contents of my boat box. I do however realise that boat angling requirements vary tremendously, dependant on the season and the location to be fished. To streamline what I carry I purchased a Planno tackle box some years ago. The benefit of this type of box is the feature of three removable Planno waterproof tackle boxes approx 15"x 8" with moveable seperators to form compartments of adjutable size. Hence, in the depth of winter I don't carry my Tope traces or wire leader materials or spinning equipment. Likewise my uptide leads and fine wire hooks are of little/no use in the depth of the North sea at Bridlington or Whitby. Some things remain under all conditions such as line and the tray holding my selection of hooks and swivels and lead links. Season, venue and target species rule what I carry. George.

You can't say fairer than that George. Never been boat fishing myself but I kind of thought (as you explained) that it would all depend on (A) Seasonal fishing and (B) species targeted, similar to beach fishing.
