last 2 trips
Saturday 12th May, Mick and I headed off to Chale in search of a Ray, arrived just before 7pm to find our usual spot taken, so we set up as close as possible, the weather was calm, warmish and the sea had a good colour so was hopeful of some action.
Sandeel went out on the beachcasters at distance on pulley rigs, we also had a bass rod each and large mackerel baits were placed close in.
By Dusk Mick had missed a good run on the bass rod and I'd missed one on sandeel so was hoping that the fishing would improve after dark.
Low water was just before 10pm, as the tide started to flood just gone 11pm Mick was into a good fish, and he landed this fine Painted Ray of 7lb 6oz.
Well the Rays were feeding, or at least we thought, but by 2.30am all we'd had after was a pout for Mick and I'd managed a blank saving doggie, so we called it a night.
Tuesday 15th, we arrived at Cowes for a short session around 7pm, we were greeted with a rough sea and loads of weed, one cast each told us it wasn't fishable, so a quick pack up and we moved to Gurnard.
Things were quiet till 11pm just before we were due to pack up, when Mick had a school Bass of around 1.5lb, I had a succession of strange bites, and when I wound in felt a very heavy weight and in came this Lobster of around 4lb, which I returned after photo.
We called it a night just before midnight.
