Charity match lee on solent 24/04/09
Well we had at very short notice a charity match last night , to build up the funds for this years charity "the hampshire and iow air ambulance" our plans are to get as many matches in this year to raise as much as we can and to beat lasts year target for the rnli ,including lots of mini meets , Arrived at lee on solent and met in the car park for 7.45pm , what a great turn out we had fishing was from 8pm untill 1am so a quick few hellos and on to the beach ...........
With a few late arrivals there were nearly 30 of us spread all along lee on solent , the wife and daughter decided they wanted to tag along , so set up base camp for them ........
bacon rolls and burgers all night long , well the fishing was very poor from the off with lots and lots of these .................
and a few of these ...............
Well we used an arsenal of baits including crab , bluey , worm ,sandeel , squid with various and imagineative cocktails to no availe , no rays , no early hounds , just pout and woofers falling to all , young dan was in the lead and looking at snaffling the winnings with a 1lb 2oz dog .......................
Alas he was pipped to the post half an hour before the end by aaron with a dog of 1lb 10ozs , well done aaron ........ gutted for the young man as at 15 years of age is a very dedicated young angler for whom ive got a lot of time for and will take anywhere and give tips and tricks too , well with the match over and aaron collecting his prize of 50 quid for overall biggest fish , me and a few others battled on untill 4 am but it just wasnt to be , the weed got too much so woke the wife and daugter up and headed for a nice warm bed ........ despite the lack of fish and windy weather it was great again to meet up with friends and enjoy friendly banter , and the main thing is we raised £67.00 for the ever growing pot ......
A big thanks to all that attended ,
cheers lee.

Great Post Lee,
well done on raising funds for a very worthwhile cause.
Young Dan's day will come.... not a doubt.
At least you guys caught something...... our group fished Fleetwood today and without a single knock, never mind a fish, between about 20 of us.
Good friendly banter, and plenty of leg pulling, still made it a good meet.
I'm sure yours was too.
