Chale Friday 22nd
I've been waiting for weeks to get back down Chale for some Ray fishing, well finally Friday the rain of late had stopped and the weather was calm.
Arrived and was set up by 8pm, there was five of us. I set up clip down rigs with sandeel on one and whole squid on the other, I also had brought my Bass road along with a running ledger and 6/0 circle and large Chunks of mackerel as bait.
There was little sign of any mackerel, the others tried feathering with Kierren the only one to manage anything, this scad.
We, as usual were treated to a typical chale sunset.
Darkness arrived but the fish didn't with only the odd pout being landed. I pinched one off Kierran put a fillet out and the remaining head on the Bass rod. Within 10 minutes I had a good take and then slack line, I retrieved like mad to catch up with the fish and by the time I had it was flapping in the surf. A nice Bass of 3lb 11oz.
We fished on till gone 4am. I had 2 other good takes on the Bass rod, but unfortunately they were very fast smash and grab bites and I misssed both.
So 5 of us with 11 rods out produced a few Pout and one Bass, shame the fishing was so poor, but was a lovely evening with great company, and there's always next time.
