Chale Friday 7th
Finally after what seemed a long week it was Fiday again, fishing night. Nick not being able to make it, I made my way to Chale on my own, weather was perfect, little wind and reasonably clear and mild, the sea was flat calm, though Chale normally fishes better with a surf running.
Arrived at 6pm to find Lighty already set up down there so joined him, an hour later we were joined by another mate, Dinger.
Well it was a lovely evening for being on this beach.
As usual I had one rod with sandeel on a clipped down rig cast at distance, the other I put half a bluey on a pennel and put that out around 40 yards for a Bass.
Lighty had been there since 2pm without a bite.
Around 8.30pm I started to get some interest on the Bluey, a couple of small taps, then the rod pulled round, striking there was a good weight, but wasn't doing much so didn't feel like the expected Bass.
And in came this greedy sod with half a Bluey inside him.
A nice Turbot of 1lb 1oz.
Well that was a good start and unexpected.
Dusk arrived and the Pout came on the feed interspersed with the odd doggie.
Finally just gone midnght a better bite, starting with a small rattle then the rod slowly but deliberately started to bend as a fish swam off with its prize, my sandeel. Striking I felt a good weight, pumping the fish in I finally landed one of my target species, a nice spotted Ray of 2lb 12oz.
Dinger left the but Lighty and I fished on till just gone 4pm,with the pout and odd doggie keeping us busy, with first light showing we called it a night.
Well things are starting to improve so will be back as soon as possible.
