Classic Beach Question Empty Re: Classic Beach Question

Post by Birdy Wed Nov 03, 2010 3:19 am

Sorry guys but you are wrong when in feeding mode fish swim AGAINST the tide its quite logical really when your 2-3 Inch bait plonks into the water the scent spreads in a conical pattern so the fish senses(smells) a wider target and homes in on the scent. Thats why it quiet often goes quiet at high water ie no flow Also any food objects dislodged by rough water go downtide (ie with the flow) so a feeding fish needs to swim uptide (against the flow) in order to intercept them Very Happy

i agree with birdy when on trawlers we caught fish swiming agains the tide but in the net they get turned around and a lot drown by being pulled backwards thus opening there gills i know it sounds daft that a fish can drown but think about it jonty

I dont mean to make light of this..but yes i agree they swim against the tide, as course fish do againt the current. however those fishies seem to use my hook as a start point and swim pretty damn fast away from it

Classic Beach Question Empty post

Post by jazzman Wed Nov 03, 2010 11:13 am

Ok Here is the answer :
The answer is 'both ways' which is why an end peg or the end of a line of anglers is often the hottest spot.
But the fish can also enter the beach area from deep water through a gap in a sand bar - that's why many hot spots in the middle of the beach are hot spots
