Species: Bass, Dover Sole, Eels Common, Flounder, LSD, Mullet, Pouting, Smooth Hound, Tub Gurnard, Whiting

where to fish: as you walk onto the Town Quay you can only fish from the right hand side they can be a bit funny about people fishing from the left hand side (probably because of the Sea Cats leaving from here)
There are signs that instruct you that there is no fishing allowed here but this is not enforced "at the moment"

the Town quay is a fairly standard pier with a very large superstructure underneath that is very Snaggy making it the perfect refuge for bass and other species

straight in front of the Quay is a deeper channel caused by the constant Ferry use the bottom here is a mixture of mud sand and various debris but fairly clean here you can find a few flat fish in the spots where food gathers

From here the bottom Rises up to a plateau before dropping of again where it meets the Main Flow From the River the Far Edge of this being a good spot For LSD's and Smooth Hound (when their in the estuary)

How to Fish:

Pout: put a baited hook in the water

Bass: put the Pout you just caught on a hook and fish it as a live bait under the Quay straight under your Rod Tip (keep an eye on your rod as bites are Savage and an unwatched Rod is Soon Gone) The bass also Respond well to Ragworm Fished under the Quay

Flat Fish: Ragworm pinned to the bottom in the channel and on the plateau (if fishing in the channel and a ferry goes by if you can get away with out reeling in do so as you will find bites come quite quickly once they have passed over as fish will follow the wake looking for food which has just been uncovered)

Smooth Hound: Crab and Ragworm baits will account for Smooth Hound when they are in the estuary the Smooth hound that are caught here do not go to monstrous Sizes but are great fun on light tackle

LSD's Lesser Spotted Dogfish: Fish baits Fished at Distance onto the Edge of the main River flow will account for Doggies

Mullet: very difficult to catch from here but do respond to ledgered bread on calm days

all other species will respond to normal methods of fishing
