Two nights in the cold
Friday evening and it was decided to give Dutchmans a try, a steep climb down the cliffs and we were set up by 7pm. The sky was clear and there was a heavy frost, and it was cold. There was 4 of us, baits were large in hope of something decent.
Dean was into a fish almost instantly, a doggie.
He then followed this with a Pollock.
We thought we were in for a good night but things then went quiet Mick managed this 5 bearded rockling and a Pout and all I could manage was 2 pout.
By midnight the moon had come up and what bites we were getting stopped so we called it a night.
Saturday Mick and I decided on a session in the solent, we arrived for low water and things were quiet again but as the tide started to flood Mick was in with this Bass of 2lb.
I had a whiting soon after but the wind was strong and cold so around midnight we moved around the headland to get out of it. Straight away I had a bite and landed another Rockling, a short while later I manged my first Bass of the year, only a pound but I was happy.
And as we packed up I had this Flounder of 11ozs.
The fishing wasn't great and it was damned cold but least we caught, and thats the main thing.

I'll bet it was still warm and sunny at night, down there, near the equator.
