Best way to hook mackerel as bait
As I have come from course fishing were maggots are easy to hook up. What is the best way to hook up mackerel so it stays on the hook. Also, what bait would you recommend for this time of year.
Thanks
Chris
Thanks

The best way i have found ( others may say different but all work ) is to use fresh black lug tipped on the end of the hook ( size 2 ) with a small ( 1cm square ) of makky pierced with the tip of the hook through the skin, that and Peeler Crab is killer bait during summer around here boss, or just fresh black lug on its own, frozen lug also works quite well but as i get my own bait i prefer the fresh stuff

Re: North Pier Today
if you are useing big baits you could try a pennel rig in which you use 2 hooks one hook above the other that would keep you fish bait on the hook

Dave the bait man
Met up and got some bait from Dave in Fleetwood. What a nice chap. Very helpful and has great knowledge of fishing in this area.
Bait is a very good prices and he has everything both fresh and frozen (god I sound like his sales rep).
Off fishing this Monday on North Pier so might see you there.

Help finding a good 10ft three piece pier rod.
I need a rod for fishing off North pier that is in three pieces or more as its a pain getting my two piece 12ft rod in and out of the car.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks

Fishing in Fleetwood
Just been fishing with Birdy and mates. Fantastic. The man knows heaps about sea fishing. Learned more tonight than I ever new, thanks Birdy.
Off fishing Wednesday and trying out a new rod so hope it does the job. By the way Birdy, what make is the rod so I can have a read up about it.
Thanks again for today.
