Last trip of 2011
Friday night and despite the rain I headed off out for the last trip of the year. The plan was to fish one venue over low and then up, this spot has been producing plenty of Whiting, then move 3 hrs before high to a spot which hopefully would show a Bass or 2. On the way though changed my mind, didn't much feel like hauling in whiting all night so hit the 2nd spot straight away, all out for a Bass.
Was set up by 8pm, a pennel rig with sandeel on one rod the other a 2 hook flapper with large buches of Ragworm.
Things were quiet till 1am when I had a cracking take on sandeel, but was so quick I missed it,.
At 2am the school Bass started hitting my worm baits and I proceeded to miss the first 3 bites, things were not going well, but a change of hooks to sakuma circles saw me start landing them, not big all around 1.5lb, but great sport. By 3.30am the bites had ceased so I called it a night with about half a dozen Bass caught and released.
Next trip the first of 2012, a whole year of fishing ahead of me, can't wait.
I wish you all a happy and fish filled new year.

Nice one Davey.
You could fish up here for Bass in December.
The bait might have to remain in the water for about 4 months before the first take though!

Lol mate. I'm lucky on the Island the Bass don't move out to deeper water, though dosn't mean their easy to find but it is possible.
