Re: Darth and Colins boat 2
That looks a good winter project, seriously, good luck with it. It might be some hard work but it will be worth it in the long run.

Re: Darth and Colins boat 2
Hull shape looks promising, should be pretty stable. How big (or small) is the hull?
Thats either, a very small boat or a very big occupant in one of the photographs.

Re: Darth and Colins boat 2
On a serious note, whats the insulation in the hull like, old Dorys can get water logged & wallow in the water, hope you have a good one cos they are great little boats when set up.

Re: Darth and Colins boat 2
A few tips guys.
1. Have a good look at the Meerkat thread and the photographs of the reflooring that they completed. That was done correctly and the strucural integrity of the boat increased immensely.
2. Whilst undergoing work take the boat off that trailer, many of the rollers aren't in contact with the hull and therefore aren't supporting it. The photographs clearly depict the boat leaning over.
Use those pallets and some old clothes or sheets and get the boat at ground level and well supported, and very important COMPLETELY level before you commence reflooring. If you glass anything into place whilst the hull is twisted slightly you will fix that twist into the boat for ever resulting in poor stability underway and difficulty maintaining a track.
Being at ground level is safer for your access and also allows you do complete final stages of work from outside the boat.
3. Don't cut corners. Ultimately your life will depend on it. Do a job right and you'll only do it once.
A simple equation. quality of materials and workmanship = pride and ownership.
