A ray of hope
Mick and I decided to give Yaverland a go for the elusive ray, because of the cold weather their late coming inshore, they should have been in last month.
We were set up about 8 pm Friday, clip down rigs with 4/0 sakuma hooks and large sandeel cast as far as possible.
There were a fair few fishing down there, but with only the odd small turbot caught things weren't looking promising, until just before midnight, when Mick landed our target, a 2lb 11oz spotted Ray.
It was a start and at least we knew they were about.
an hour later and Mick was in again with a better fish of 4lb 2oz.
We stayed till 2.30am but with the tide ebbing fast we called it a night, oh yes, me, I blanked didn't even have a bite, still always next time.
