Headlights
Can anyone recommend a decent headlight for night fishing that doesn't cost a small fortune also a shelter of some sort don't want to get soaked again like I did last Friday .

Re: Headlights
Amazon have plenty on for under £20 but read the user comments first, i got a cree headlight for under a fiver and it works well enough for me, but many get the ones from a pound shop and they suffice, it depends on what you want to pay they range from a quid to over £80 or more
as for a shelter, if i was to ever get one i'd buy a £15 2 man dome tent a bit cheaper than the khaki half teepee style i have seen at £30+
but there are all kinds once more depending on how deep your wallet goes

Re: Headlights
Lee,
Honestly mate, best advice I can give, from personal experience after messing about with cheap and cheerfull headlights is save up and buy a good quality new one. Personally I would recommend the Led Lenser H7 or even better the H14. Well worth the slight extra you'll pay for one.
As to shelters, again this is my personal opinion DONT go for a brolly, had 2, both broke very quickly. Ive used the Ron Thompson(£50) shelter which is great and am currently using the Waterline shelter(£59) which I got from Gerrys at Morcambe which is even better(slightly bigger) and I cannot recommend this on highly enough.
People may try to pursuade you to go for an Ian Golds Igloo. Yes they are big, easy to erec they dont have door flaps (which are very handy) so Im not overly convinced with them.
So there you are, just my humble opinion, but, having saved for both, Im glad I did. Its amazing how many anglers ask me what my headlamp is(H14) and comment on how bright it is, whilst Im warm and cosy in my Waterline shelter

Re: Headlights
H7 & H14 are brilliant , I have both but go for the R (rechargeable) versions if you can, they will work out cheaper in the end.

Re: Headlights
I was going to add DONT go for the re-chargable ones . The non rechargable ones are cheaper, just get some re chargable batteries, its a personal choice.

Re: Headlights
Slightly different circuit & rechargeables overheat the standard lamps causing the output to drop & drain quicker than in the R versions. If you buy a pack of Duracell every time you fish it soon mounts up,
