Well its January, things are always hard work finding any fish, let alone anything decent.
So with that in mind a mate and I headed off to Freshwater bay, a good spot for Rockling (slugs), a chance of a Pollock and hopefully a Bass.

Fishing here is best close in, so a scratching rig with worm tipped off with mackerel slithers or squid strips on one rod and a whole squid on a pennel for the 2ND rod

First cast and within 30 seconds and good bite and slack line on the scratching rig and in came a Pout of 1lb 5oz.
Thinking this was a good start but bites were few and far between, by 11pm the tide had turned and we'd had a few pout and a I'd a new species, this 3 bearded Rockling.

We Decided to move and so it was half hour drive from one end to the other of the Island, and by midnight we were set up at Yaverland, hoping for an early Turbot. By 2am though the weed had turned up in force and we'd managed only 3 small Pout so called it a night.
