New to site and born again angler
Hi Folks,
Just signed up to site, seems canny and admin seem enthusiastic so signed straight up.
I was a SERIOUS sea angler, spent many an hour in the depths of deep winter freezes on the end of a pier or on a beach right through the night for good 20 hr sessions, I started about the age of 8 y/o and the older I got the more interested I became.
Sold up my few grands worth of gear when my second kid was born to concentrate on my golf, as I only had 1 day a week free I didnt have the time to participate in 2 sports
Fortunatley, my son I packed the sport in for, is almost 8 y/o and a perfect ago to introduce him to fishing!
Must run in the blood coz hes took to it like a duck to water on his 1st outing today His 1st cast ever was a good 100+ yds lol and even though we blanked in the few hours we managed to squeeze in, hes deperate to go again tomorrow, so I wont argue
Anyway, good site, I never thought after just 7/8 year I would forget how to tie a uni knot! How I found this canny site.
Keep up the good work and, Tight Lines

Re: New to site and born again angler
Cheers for the welcomes
Aye, the name lol, was 1st thing that popped into my head! I have a habbit of jumping in and thinking later lol.
Fished South Sheilds promenade today with the young'n, fished from low through to high, then 1st hour n a half out.
Not a tiddler! However the son was happy enough with the crabs we were pestered with so hes happy lol! Took some persuading that we weren't taking them home to show his big sis tho!
Not a particularly favorite spot of mine, but ideal to get the young'n learning to cast as the ground is mainly easy going. I think beaches/rocks will be no go for him fot now but tbh, apart from one cast today he would have been fine, he does need to speed up his retreival tho but just needs the practice, oh and to grow a bit!.
Been doing a lot of looking round on the net for suitable spots for him, but not too many easy going spots in Northumberland, Rough, rough and more rough! Feel free to suggest any
The high wall on south shields pier used to be my spot, caught all my biggest fish there, but you got to have a really good long cast to get over the rocks on to the sand bank so will be a good few year for him yet.
Looking forward to the maccy coming in, that should give him something to get excited about! He will be ok to fish the pier with feathers the hour before and after thigh water;)

Re: New to site and born again angler
btw, his 1st cast was not 100+ yds, I meant 100+ foot! lol, just read that back to myself.
Being an engineer I work in measurements: mm, tho's & microns, distance always fools me, maybe why my golf got no better after neglecting my fishing!
